What Lindsey Says: “I was really impressed by this little guy at how great is ground manners and temperant are. He was so patient and kind the first time I met him and so trusting that he easily walked right on the trailer when I picked him up.”
Information: Lumen was bought by Lindsey in early November 2012, and gelded in late November, 2012.
Lumen’s training has gone very well and he trail rides, jumps, goes western and english! He’s turned out to be such a fantastic horse!
We used Lumen in summer camp 2013 because of his calm and easy going nature. He really was excellent with the kids and even did some trails.
He was a super star in 2014 – lots of clients enjoyed his comfortable and smooth gaits. His trot and canter are lovely to sit to, and his jump is slow and safe for beginners- although he has been known to slow down and walk a fence or two. He doesn’t have a lot of go so it can be challenging to keep him motivated to canter a full course of jumps.
in 2014 he also got to go off property and participate in a Finesse clinic with Don Halladay – he walked off the trailer and was a super star, so calm and confident and rode in a bit for the first time with ease.
He has also been offsite to participate in a centered riding clinic and yet again proved to be so calm and reliable.
The hardest part to Lumen is keeping him motivated to keep moving – he is naturally a pokey horse that likes to mosey around. He enjoys doing obstacles and different things. He isn’t in a hurry to do much of anything. He does like to play and be curious about obstacles, swimming or playing with the ball.
In 2015 he spent most of the summer basbysitting our yearlings offsite and came home mid summer to take part in the final weeks of summer camp.
He came home and was amazing right away- he really impressed the coaches with how awesome he was getting back into work. He did trail riding, obstacles, and some low jumps. We found out he is super awesome at liberty because he is so connected to people.
Lumen is sound, no vices and is extremely comfortable to ride. He is the type of pony that will try to be as lazy as you let him, so he will take advantage of beginners if there isn’t a coach there to help. He loves doing obstacles and trails because he finds them interesting.
In 2016 we have decided to put Lumen up for sale. He would excel with someone wanting to do obstacles. Price $4000
