Blizz
Registered Name: Here Comes Adri
Sex: Mare
Height: 16.2H
Birthday: May 30, 2012
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour: Grey
Use: 2017 horse for the Thoroughbred Makeover for Lindsey and now in the lesson program.
Best Friends: Little, Bowdrie, and Zera
What’s Interesting: She raced 17 times and earnt $77,960. She raced for 3 years and only won one race per year. She got her name ‘Blizz’ because it’s similar to bliss, as well the blizzard Dairy queen treat which is sweet, and because on her way home after being bought by Lindsey they got caught in a blizzard which caused them to be delayed in NY for 2 days before making it home to Ontario.
What she likes: Taking things slow and patiently.
Talents: She seems to have a really good ‘head on her shoulders’ with a sweet attitude, willingness to try, and clever at learning new things.
What Lindsey Says: “Blizz is a funny mare with a lot of heart. She loves cuddles and is just the sweetest.”
Information:
Blizz was purchased off of a Facebook photo by Lindsey to be used in the 2017 Thoroughbred Makeover. She finished her racing career sound and with no injuries. After Lindsey had such great success with her grey mares Soar and Trivia Time at the two previous Thoroughbred Makeovers, Lindsey decided to try another grey mare.
She was picked up while Lindsey was down in New York City with Dreamer for the Equus Film Festival. Blizz was transported to the farm where Dreamer was staying in New Jersey. One the way home Blizz and Dreamer got stuck in a blizzard that caused them to pull over and take shelter at a nearby stable for 2 days. The story even made the news! (Check it out click here).
She ended up becoming an amazing Field Hunter and Trail horse. At the Thoroughbred Makeover she placed 3rd in Trail (Lindsey’s other horses placed 1st and 2nd), and she placed 6th in Field Hunter in the 2017 International Competition at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Blizz loves being in the news, the story about “The Horse in a Hotel” went viral when we were in Kentucky so you may recognize her from that, and she appeared on Breakfast Television because of her Hotel Experience.
In summer 2018 she sold to a Harmony Horsemanship student that was wanting a forever horse – they are a perfect match. Tawni posts regular updates with Blizz on Facebook and we are grateful to see how happy they are together.
